According to Economic Survey 2078-079, there are a total of 30,879 cooperative organizations in Nepal as of Falgun 2078. In which the
number of share members is 73 lakhs 37 thousand 252 and the share capital is 94 billion 12 million. Until this period, 4 trillion 77 billion 99 million savings
have been mobilized and 4 trillion 26 billion 31 million loans have been disbursed. As of
Falgun end of FY 2077-078, 88 thousand 309 direct jobs have been created in the cooperative sector, while 91 thousand 301 direct jobs have been created by Falgun
end of FY 2078-079.
Bagmati Province provides the maximum

population and trade zones. Spread over 13 districts, including the federal
capital of Nepal, Kathmandu, Bagmati is the fifth largest province in terms of

the total share capital has been collected. Similarly, cooperatives across the
country have
contributed a total of Rs. 4,77,96,11,46,473 out of which Rs. 2,14,66,22,05,860
i.e. 44.91
percent of the total savings amount has been collected. Out of the total Loan
mobilization of Rs.
4,26,26,23,11,381 by the cooperatives across the country, only Bagmati Pradesh
has invested
Rs.1,99,86,47,24,434, which is 46.89 percent of the total loan investment. In
terms of direct
employment, out of 88,309 jobs created in the country, only 33,892 jobs in
Bagmati State alone
or 38.38 percent of the total employment have been created in Bagmati State
alone.
